TOUR DIARY: THE SHIVER: 'Dark Matters' Tour

In questo speciale vi raccontiamo in esclusiva il diario di bordo scritto appositamente da Federica 'Faith' Sciamanna, voce e co-leader dell'alternative rock band THE SHIVER, che ci porterà all'interno delle date europee di supporto ai finlandesi THE RASMUS, nell'ambito del tour di promozione del loro ultimo album 'Dark Matters', pubblicato ad ottobre 2017 per Playground Music Scandinavia. Buon viaggio assieme a THE SHIVER!!!

[In this special post, we tell you - in exclusive - the tour diary appositely written by Federica 'Faith' Sciamanna, vocalist and co-leader of the alternative rock band THE SHIVER, that will brings us within the European Tour, supporting for the Finnish THE RASMUS, inside the promotional tour of their latest album 'Dark Matters', released at October 2017 for the label Playground Music Scandinavia. Have a nice trip with THE SHIVER!!!]

Puntata 8 - Thursday 25 October, h 5:00 pm - At the moment I am... in Southampton. Ultimo DAY OFF di questo tour, e noi ce ne andiamo a Sheffield, a trovare i nostri amici Outta Peak. Fede e Riccardo sono venuti a vivere qui un paio d’anni fa, mossi dalla passione per la scena musicale di questa città, e si sono ritrovati subito catapultati da una situazione arida e triste (Viterbo) ad una realtá attiva e stimolante, in cui sono a contatto con i loro idoli ogni giorno e possono non soltanto portare avanti la band in maniera professionale, ma anche lavorare con la loro passione - hanno uno studio di registrazione e video che si chiama West Homesick Recording Studio. [Last day-off of this tour, and we go to Sheffield, finding our friends Outta Peak. Fede and Riccardo came to live here two years ago, moved by the passion for the musical scene of this city, and they gathered immediately catapulted from a sad and arid situation (Viterbo) to an active and exciting reality, in which they are in contact with their idols every day and they can not only carry on the band in a professional way, but also to work with their passion – they have a recording studio and video called West Homesick Recording Studio.]

Da loro è ospite Tommaso, un brillante cantante del centro Italia. Quando sento i brani a cui sta lavorando quasi rimango “male” per l’ottima qualità di produzione e di esecuzione! Che bello vedere che c’è non solo talento in giro, ma anche che ci sono luoghi in cui non è tutto stramaledettamente impossibile. [With them, there’s Tommaso as guest, a brilliant singer of the middle Italy. When I hear the songs which is working, I almost stay “bad” for the amazing quality of production and execution! It’s beautiful to see that there’s not only some talent around, but also there are some places in which everything isn’t damn damn impossible.]

Durante il day off registro in studio del materiale privato, ed i ragazzi si rilassano. Un grazie speciale di nuovo e pubblico a Fede e Riccardo per l’ospitalità! Chiudiamo la giornata con una cena italiana cucinata stavolta da Jack. [During the day-off, I record some private material in studio, and the guys can relax. Still a special public thanks to Fede and Riccardo for the hospitality! We close the day with an Italian dinner, this time cooked by Jack.]

L’indomani siamo pronti per il grande giorno: Manchester Academy! Federico sarà il nostro fonico e Riccardo girerà il videoclip del live. Cavoli se sono bravi! [The day after we are ready for the big day: Manchester Academy! Federico will be our sound-engineer and Riccardo will make the live video. Fuck if they are cool!]

In 7 minuti facciamo il soundcheck, tutto esce perfetto. Lo stage è MINUSCOLO e purtroppo la band d’apertura è costretta a spostare molta della nostra roba. Quando torneremo sul palco ovviamente ci saranno come sempre mille problemi. [In seven minutes we make the soundcheck, everything is perfect. The stage is VERY SMALL and unfortunately the opening band is constrained to shift a lot of our instruments. When we’ll come back to the stage, obviously there will be tons of problems, as ever.]

In tutto ciò incontro un caro amico, Ale, che vive qui da 4 anni. Venuto qui per imparare bene l’inglese, Ale sta lavorando molto nella ristorazione - gli italiani sono ovviamente apprezzatissimi! - ma spero che presto le varie situazioni musicali che ha lo porteranno ad ampliare questa parte della sia vita, perché da quando lo conosco, ha avuto sempre molto talento. [In all this, I meet a lovely friend, Ale, that lives here from four years. Came here to learn English well, Ale are working a lot in the restaurants – Italians are obviously very appreciated! – but I hope that soon the various musical situations he has, will bring him to amplify this part of his life, ‘cause since when I know him, he had always much talent.]

Ale ci raggiunge al bar degli studenti - che è un pub bellissimo in realtà - e con lui andiamo ad incontrare delle splendide signore che hanno portato dei dolcetti per noi!! OMG! Sono fantastiche:) [Ale reaches us to the students bar – that, in effects, is a wonderful pub – and we go with him to meet some awesome ladys that brought some sweets for us!! OH MY GOD! They’re fantastic]

Dopo un pó di chiacchiere si comincia. Siamo un pó nervosi, per via delle mille difficoltà tecniche della serata ma appena saliamo sul palco la folla va in delirio e tutto quello che sento è energia bella, pulita, positiva. Sono totalmente dentro al live e qualcuno canta le mie canzoni. Mammamia Manchester! Che onore! Che spettacolo! [After a few of speechless, we start. We are a few nervous, ‘cause of tons of technical difficulties of the night, but when we go up to the stage, the crowd goes delirious, and everything I hear is beautiful energy, so clean and positive. I’m totally inside the live, and someone sings my songs. Oh my God Manchester! What an honour! What a show!]

Alla fine del set mi butto tra la folla - si, ci sto prendendo gusto e si, mi sono lanciata CON I TACCHI. [At the end of the set I dive through the crowd – yes, I’m taking us taste and… yes, I’m launched WITH THE HEELS.]

Che calore. GRAZIE! [What a warmth. THANK YOU SO MUCH!]

Dopo il live con Ale ed altri due cari amici venuti per l’occasione, ci beviamo delle birre e facciamo un pó di casino. Vengo anche invitata ad una festa al Gay Village, che a quanto pare è the place to be! Ma purtroppo non si puó andare, dopo poco abbiamo il load out e poi dobbiamo andare a riposarci perchè Bristol è a 300km da qui! [After the show, with Ale and others two lovely friends came for the chance, we drink some beers e make some noise. I’m also invited to a party at the Gay Village, that seems the place to be! But sadly I can’t go, after a few we’ve got the load-out, and then we have go to rest, ‘cause Bristol is at 300km from here!]

Il Marble Factory di Bristol è fighissimo: tutto industriale, è un enorme capannone adibito a sala concerti. Tutta la venue è molto buia, anche nei backstage non si vede un cavolo ma almeno ogni band ha i suoi spazi. Dopo un pó facciamo il soundcheck, oggi il nostro fonico è di Senigallia, si chiama Nico e ci dice: che bello parlare italiano! Il posto ha dei riverberi naturali assurdi e non ho idea di come faccia il nostro amico a fare un ottimo mix all’esterno, ma ci riesce. È una delle giornate tipo del tour: tutto in fila. No dinner, é a buy-out, poi iniziano gli Overlaps, poi saliamo noi, e la folla si dimostra molto calda! Ogni sera sul palco è più bello e più emozionante. Sono sinceramente felice di essere qui e suonare per questa gente, e parlo tranquilla, li faccio anche ridere. A fine serata mi arrivano sempre molti messaggi dal pubblico che apprezza questa trasparenza on stage, e si affeziona a me e al progetto, travolto dalle emozioni del nostro live. Li facciamo divertire anche stasera! [The Marble Factory of Bristol is very amazing: all industrial, it’s an enormous shed assigned to concerts-room. All the venue is very dark, also into the backstage you can’t see anything, but at least each band has their spaces. After a few, we make the soundcheck, today our sound-engineer is of Senigallia, his name is Nico and tells us: what a beautiful to speak Italian! The place has some absurd natural reverbs, and I have no idea how our friend makes a really good mix at the outside, but he manages. It’s one of the typical days of the tour: everything in a row. No dinner, it’s buy-out, then the Overlaps start, and then we start, and the audience is just much hot! Every night on stage is more beaustiful and emotional. I’m sincerely happy to be here and play for this people, I talk easy, I make them laugh also. At the end of the night, many messages always send to me from the audience, that appreciates this transparency on stage, and they grow fond to me and to the project, overwhelmed by the emotions of our live. We make them happy also tonight!]

I promoter sono gentili e competenti, e si fanno perdonare il lato carente - il cibo. Dopo il live me ne vado al chiosco lì fuori a mangiare un veggie burger che peró contiene aglio, ed allora il ragazzi rosso di capelli e tatuato mi regala, dispiaciuto, delle patatine con il cheese. [The promoters are nice and expert, and they are forgiven the lack side – the food. After the show I go to the kiosk outside, to eat a veggie burger that contains some garlic, tough. So, the tattooed guy with red hairs gifts me, sorry, some chips with cheese.]

Il tour è agli sgoccioli, Paco sembra non guarire più e io alterno alti e bassi. C’è un po’ di insofferenza. Sarebbe bello fermarsi due giorni in un hotel e poi ripartire - magari con un driver per il van. [The tour comes to the end, Paco seems do not heal anymore, and I alternate up and down. There’s a few of intolerance. It should be nice to stop a couple of days in an hotel, and then restart – maybe with a van driver.]

Southampton è piacevole, siamo proprio sul molo e una gigantesca nave da crociera svetta davanti a noi. In caso ci perdessimo, la presenza dei fan dei The Rasmus ci indica sempre dove sono. Sembrano saperne più di noi anche sull’organizzazione del tour! [Southampton is nice, we are just on the waterfront and an enormous cruise ship spires in front of us. In the case we lost each other, The Rasmus fans presence signs always where we are. They seem to know more of us, also about tour organisation!]

Io non mi sento proprio bene e dopo una doccia bollente mi butto a dormire sul divano del backstage condiviso. Non dormo ma lascio che l’aspirina ed il caldo facciano effetto. Il soundcheck svela una venue acusticamente perfetta e dei fonici molto preparati. Cominciamo a tornare molto entusiasti! Tra il pubblico di stasera ci sono anche dei vecchi cari amici e non vedo l’ora di abbracciarli! Dall’inizio il pubblico è attento e partecipe. Sembrano gradire molto, e noi ci lasciamo andare. [I’m not feeling good, and after an hot shower, I go to sleep on the shared backstage sofa. I don’t sleep, but I let that the Aspirina and the hot take effect. The soundcheck reveals an acoustically perfect venue, and the sound-engineers are very trained. We begin to come back so much excited! Through the audience tonight, there are also some old lovely friends, and I can’t wait to hug them! From the start the audience is concentrated. They seem to appreciate a lot, and we let it go.]

Che belle queste serate in cui ti senti davvero di aver dato emozioni a tutto il locale! [What a beautiful nights, in which you really feel you made great emotions to all the venue!]

Ora non ci resta che il gran finale a Londra! Che emozione!! [Now, it’s time to the grand final in London! What an emotion!!]
